My Bucket List for Winter 2019

Winter is coming.  The mornings are darker and the sunset comes quicker at night.  I am struggling to get out of bed in the morning because it is so damn cold.  Even though I already have the heaters cranking and hot chocolate has entered the hot drink rotation, winter doesn’t ‘officially’ hit New Zealand until Saturday, 22 June 2019.

Apparently, I have an affinity for lists at the moment.

My last post was my intentions for June and I have also created a 101 in 1,001 list.  Today, I’m sharing my bucket list for winter.

It isn’t Christmas or Halloween or any ‘fun’ holiday season and it doesn’t snow where I live so this list may be a little atypical for winter.  For those of you who don’t know, I live in the North Island of New Zealand, so our winter just consists of a lot of rain and fog.

Without further adieu, here’s what I want to achieve this winter!

  1. Hot chocolate date with my son
  2. Try the new menu at Mexico (aka the place with the best fried chicken of my life)
  3. Build a fort
  4. Try a winter solstice ritual
  5. Movie date with my son
  6. Bake cookies
  7. Establish a proper new moon/full moon ritual
  8. Attend another #brunchclub event
  9. Complete dry July
  10. Read a book in 24 hours
  11. S’mores!
  12. Send 10 cards/letters
  13. Go to a farmer’s market
  14. Try a new chili recipe
  15. Break out the slow cooker and recreate my slow cooker brownie
  16. Keep a gratitude/happiness journal
  17. Have a pajama day
  18. Collect things to donate/sell
  19. Random act of kindness
  20. Organize an indoor picnic
  21. Figure out my yoga routine
  22. Start a scrapbook
  23. Breakfast for dinner
  24. Day trip to a different part of New Zealand
  25. Write a letter to my summer self
  26. Go to an indoor playground
  27. Have a sleepover
  28. Bake a pie
  29. See the sunrise and sunset on the same day

…And there you have it!

I’m sure you’ll see blog posts about how my winter unfolds and the progress of my bucket list.

If you have suggestions, please let me know in the comments!  I am always up for adding something exciting onto my bucket list!

  1. These sounds like so much fun! It’s been over 100 degrees the last few days in Southern California, so the winter time does sound nice lol. Very fun activities!

  2. I love your lists! (possibly because I am a list-maker too but… lists that only get sometimes completed…. :|)

Also, if you want someone to write a letter to, would be keen… which reminds me I still need to send out a super late letter to a penpal in america… -_-

I also want to do the scrapbook for my daughter…. of her baby ultrasounds and, potentially first half year of life….
